Live, thou ass, until the clover sprouts up. 

Exhorting a foolish person to be patient and not to despond, as it is quite certain that circumstances will change for the better.

    Lamentation is not with the drum.

    The drum is a sign of merry-making. The meaning is that if a man be in sorrow, he will show signs of sorrow.
